The assembly temperature has a massive influence on the ultrasonic length measured. It alters both the mechanical length of the screw and the propagation speed of the ultrasonic wave. Excuse me, are we talking about tightening here?!

Guessing while tightening is unfortunately a widespread practice in the industry. And quite risky because, to ensure all parts of your assembly are perfectly put together, it’s necessary to precisely know the yield strength of the screw and tighten with a rigorous method. Guessing doesn’t guarantee the required tightening force.
